𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞: When it comes to genuine jade, there are two types: 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐞 and 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞. Jadeite is much rarer and is commercially available only from Myanmar (Burma). It has higher hardness and is more durable. Nephrite, on the other hand, is less lustrous and almost always opaque. The finest source of Jadeite Jade in the world comes from Kachin state, Myanmar (Burma). It's also the only commercial source for Jadeite in the world. Other small deposits are found in Kazakhstan, Russia, Japan, Guatemala, and USA. Natural Jadeite comes in various qualities and colors. Due to the high demand for premium Jadeite, industry experts often treat lower quality Jadeite to artificially enhance its transparency and color. However, these treatments are not permanent and can affect the stone's overall durability. The enhanced appearance can deteriorate over time, with color-dyed Jadeite typically losing its color when exposed to sunlight for extended periods. Depending on the extent of the treatment, the value of Jadeite can drop dramatically, unlike untreated Jadeite, which appreciates over time. There are classified into five categories on the Natural Jadeite Jade, from A to D. 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐀: • Treatment: None / Waxing • Quality: Natural, untreated jade 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐁: • Treatment: Bleached, then impregnated with a polymer to enhance translucency and color • Quality: Low value, loses durability, and not stable 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐂: • Treatment: Dyed to improve color • Quality: Low value, color changes or fades over time 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐁 + 𝐂: • Treatment: Enhanced translucency and color • Quality: Low value, similar issues as Grade B and C 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐃: • Treatment: Composite material • Quality: Jadeite combined with other materials such as plastics or glass

Are unheated rubies and sapphire are more valuable?

This holds especially true for rubies and sapphires, where the price difference between heated and unheated stones can be considerably higher. Heating is a process that involves exposing the natural gemstones to extremely high temperatures to enhance their appearance and intensify their color. Unheated rubies and sapphires display their natural color and characteristics, showcasing the genuine beauty of the gemstone without any enhancements. However, they both fall under the category of natural gems, with untreated gems considered more valuable, often commanding prices 2-5 times higher than treated stones.
Moreover, Burmese Sapphires and Rubies are highly prized in the international market for their exceptional quality, unique color, and historical significance. The finest quality Burmese rubies and sapphires are rare and in high demand among collectors and high-end jewelry designers.
